Focus Statement:
The Art Program provides a variety of experiences and through stimulation and participation develops skills, enjoyment and an appreciation of art.

PURPOSE
The Ruthven PS art program aims to provide a balance of skills development and activities from the areas of Drawing, Painting, Printing, Modelling, Construction, Threads & Textiles and Art Appreciation

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

To give students as many opportunities as possible to participate in a sequential, varied art program throughout primary school life.
To provide an enjoyable and meaningful art program, which can be extended into leisure time.
To develop the student's desire to create through enjoyable experiences.
To encourage students to participate to the best of their ability and realise that Art, in its many forms, is a means of personal expression.
To introduce and extend the students in any aspect of art, which they have, not experiences and to expose them to art in all its forms thus allowing them to form an awareness and appreciation of the possibilities in this field
To consider art & craft as being a valid means of expression and enrichment in all areas of curriculum
To develop cultural and artistic awareness.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Art Program will provide a balanced program where each student will be given the opportunity to develop meaningful expression and communication skills through a variety of enjoyable experiences selected from the areas of drawing, painting, printing, modelling, construction and threads and textiles and Art Appreciation.
