Focus Statement:
The aim of the Ruthven Primary School Music Program will be to provide all students with a variety of stimulating musical experiences, which will promote skill development, enjoyment and appreciation of many differing types of music
PURPOSE
This program will aim to provide a balance between listening, performing, creating and playing music. Singing and movement will also form an integral part of the program.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To continue developing musical literacy skills to enable students to refine their skills to help them create and record their own music
- To organise active musical experiences through playing melodic and non-melodic instruments
- To help students become intelligent and discerning consumers of music through a balanced listening program
- To provide musical activities which will aid the development of aural and visual perception, thought, speech and motor co-ordination
- To promote music as a social activity in which the values of co-operation and small group interaction skills are encouraged
- To develop student's confidence and self-esteem by providing opportunities to perform to the wider school community
- To raise student's awareness of music as an integral part of our society by organising live performances at school level and outside venues.
