SOSE
Focus Statement:
S.O.S.E. uses inquiry approach and co-operative learning techniques. It aims to allow students to make rational judgements and to become decision makers in 2001 and beyond. The SOSE program will form an important component of PYP.
PURPOSE
To provide experiences which will help students acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and values, to participate effectively in daily life.
To emphasise an understanding of Australian Culture

To stimulate the students to develop comprehensive understandings of an ever changing world.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program is based on the Inquiry approach in which students will develop and refine concepts and skills in conjunction with small group co-operative learning techniques.
Students will be encouraged to be active learners through discussion, research, analysis and investigation.
Broad thematic headings enable teachers to use variety of resources to plan units. The units can incorporate relevant and immediate events within the framework of a unit plan.
